The Ancient Egyptians built the pyramids
The Pyramids of Giza stand as a testament to the Egyptians' belief in resurrection and immortality. Situated on the western edge of Greater Cairo, approximately 10 kilometers from downtown, these pyramids include:
The Great Pyramid
Recognized as the world's most famous structure and the sole survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Constructed by King Khufu (Cheops) of the IV Dynasty around 2650 BC, its current height is 137 meters (original height: 146 meters). Comprising almost 2.5 million stone blocks, the precision of its construction showcases the extraordinary skill of ancient Egyptians. Adjacent to the Pyramid of Khufu are three smaller pyramids dedicated to his wives or family members.
The Second Pyramid
Erected by Khafre (Chephren), southwest of his father's (Khufu's) pyramid, though slightly shorter at 136 meters. Retaining remnants of limestone on some upper parts, it measures 215.5 meters square at the base. The interior, featuring two entrances on the north side, also reveals the remains of Khafre's mortuary temple, the Temple of the Valley, and a rising causeway.
The Third Pyramid
Constructed by Menkaure (Mycerinus), southwest of the Great and Second Pyramids, it stands much smaller at 62 meters in height. Notably, the lower part of its sides still retains granite slab coverings.
En route to the Temple of the Valley lies the Sphinx—a colossal statue carved from a single piece of stone. This legendary monument, measuring 70 meters in length and 20 meters in height, features the body of a lion and the face of a man, closely resembling that of King Kephren.
Explore the secrets of essential oils and aromas at the perfumery. Immerse yourself in scents like 'The Secrets of the Desert' and 'The Lotus,' as well as renowned international designer perfumes and colognes.
