Itinerary:

                                                                         

DAY 01: AIRPORT - KANDY

Meeting at airport upon arrival by local guide. On arrival you will be blessed to get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality. You will be welcome at the Airport and will guide to, transportation arranged for you for transfer to your first destination. Overnight at Kandy.

 

DAY 02: KANDY - NIGHT NUWARA ELIYA

Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum & Temple of Tooth Relic. Kandy the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism's influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple's shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.   

Royal Botanical Gardens - Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy.  There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens.  Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world are one such avenue.

Udawattakele Sanctuary – It is a historic forest reserve on a hill-ridge in the city of Kandy. It is 104 hectares (257 acres) large. During the days of the Kandyan kingdom, Udawattakele was known as "Uda Wasala Watta" in Sinhalese meaning "the garden above the royal palace". The sanctuary is famous for its extensive avifauna. The reserve also contains a great variety of plant species, especially lianas, shrubs and small trees. There are several giant lianas. Many of small and medium size mammals that inhabit Sri Lanka can be seen here. Several kinds of snakes and other reptiles might be seen. Udawattakele was designated as a forest reserve in 1856, and it became a sanctuary in 1938. The forest is of religious importance as there are three Buddhist meditation hermitages and three rock shelter dwellings for Buddhist monk hermits. By the night experience a colorful show where you will be taken to mind blowing Sri Lankan culture extravaganza… Get ready for Heavy drumbeat and acrobatic act. 

PINNAWALA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE – Approx. 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo - Kandy road is Pinnawela. Here an orphanage was started in 1975 to house abandoned and wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including baby elephants brought from various parts, as well more than 25 babies born as a result of the captive breeding programme. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0915-0945 hrs and 1415-1445 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-11.00 hrs and 1500-1600 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess' hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession.

Transfer to your 2nd destination. Overnight at Nuwara Eliya.

 

DAY 03: NUWARA ELIYA CITY TOUR

In the morning, after breakfast, this city tour will start with the drive to Nuwara Eliya. You will get to firstly view the iconic Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia from outside and then proceed to town. Once in town, you will be shown one of Sri Lankas oldest post offices. A typical Tudor styled colonial building that stands proud with its red brick exterior. You will then be taken to see other traditional colonial buildings that reflect the British influence during their colonial years. Such buildings would be the HNB Bank, Nuwara Eliya Police Station, St. Xavier’s Church and Nuwara Eliya’s pride, the prestigious colonial masterpiece of the Grand Hotel with its gorgeous manicured lawns from outside.

Then you will be taken to Victoria Park, a beautiful park named after Queen Victoria’s commemoration. Take the time to walk around the park and enjoy the ambience and gorgeous views of its landscapes with stunning trees and lawns. This will be followed by a visit to the Nuwara Eliya Race Course, another colonial beauty stemming from the British era. It is the only horse racing course in Sri Lanka and is renowned for the annual events held around April which are reminiscent of the Ascot Races.

Then you will visit Lake Gregory, a man made marvel of colonial days. It was initially built for the purpose of electricity and is now used for recreation and leisure. This beautiful lake is surrounded by breathtaking views of mountains in the distance. You will have time to take part in the activities provided on site. Such as paddle boats and other water sports. Take a break for lunch at 12:30 pm.

After lunch, we would drive to Sita Amman Temple and Hakgala Botanical Gardens. These two sites comprise the former ‘Ashoka Vatika’. Sita Amman Temple is uniquely dedicated to Sitadevi, wife of Lord Rama with Hakgala Botanical Gardens being the 2nd largest botanical garden of Sri Lanka. It comprises of beautiful gardens divided into separate sections of different flowers such as roses and orchids.

Upon your journey back to the city, you will stop at a strawberry farm. Be sure to indulge in the popular strawberries and cream, waffles or strawberry cheesecake or anything else that takes your fancy. After returning back to the city in the evening, you will be given taken to the Bale Bazaar, a local flea market popular for winter wear at bargain prices. Transfer to your 3rd destination. Overnight at Bentota.

 

DAY 04: BENTOTA TOUR

In the morning, after breakfast, this city tour will start with Hakgala Botanical Garden (6 hours) is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. The other four are Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Henarathgoda Botanical Garden, Mirijjawila Botanical Garden and Seetawaka Botanical Garden. It is the second largest garden in Sri Lanka. When returning back you will transfer to Ella for Boat Tours. Boat Rentals in Ella. Dolphin & Whale Watching in Ella. Gondola Cruises in Ella. River Rafting & Tubing in Ella. Scuba & Snorkeling in Ella. Surfing, Windsurfing & Kitesurfing in Ella. Then you will transfer to The Madu Ganga what is a minor watercourse which originates near Uragasmanhandiya in the Galle District of Sri Lanka, before widening into the Madu Ganga Lake at Balapitiya. The river then flows for a further a 4.4 km before draining into the Indian Ocean.

Then you will visit to The SeaTurtle Conservation and research centre, the oldest in the country and the beach Kosgoda is where the conservation and research helps saves sea turtles. Every night the rescuers collect the eggs, places them in protected sand, once they hatch, baby turtles are directed to the light into the hatchery and by day 3 released back to sea. The kids had an amazing time. While the facilities were basic, the guides and volunteers were so passionate about their work. We were most humbled the the experience. Overnight at Bentota.

 

DAY 05: BENTOTA - COLOMBO - AIRPORT

After breakfast our representative will meet you at the hotel lobby and you will go for Colombo city tour and enjoy your leisure time for shopping’s. After that you will drive to the international airport for your departing flight and a safe journey home.
